Artists who influenced Kaspar Karsen![]() | Kaspar Karsen was born in Amsterdam in 1810. His first teacher was his uncle, George Westenberg. Later, he studied for two years at the Amsterdam Academy. After a few years as a decorative painter, he began specialising in town- and riverscapes. Most of his depictions of cities were from a distance and often they were less than topographically accurate - he combined observation with fantasy.
