He studied with his uncle Joaquim de Miró (1849–1914) at Sitges and at the Escola Superior de Bellas Artes in Barcelona. His first exhibited work, entitled Crepuscle, was shown at the second Exposición de Bellas Artes at Barcelona in 1894.
