Artists who influenced Jacob Grimmer | In 1539 he was apprenticed in Antwerp to Gabriel Bauwens ( fl 1536--9); later he also joined the workshops of Matthijs Cock and Kerstiaen van de Queckborne (1515--78). He became a member of the society of rhetoricians De Violieren in 1546, and a year later a master of the Guild of St Luke.
